Kobie Boykins

I bring a unique blend of high-level hockey experience, elite academic achievement, and real-world leadership to the SC Flyers. I played NCAA hockey at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), where I developed my game at a competitive level before transitioning into a career defined by innovation and excellence.

Off the ice, I’m a senior mechanical engineer at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. For more than two decades, I’ve worked on some of the most advanced space exploration missions in history, including the Mars rovers Spirit, Opportunity, and Curiosity. That experience reflects the same discipline, problem-solving mindset, and commitment to excellence that I bring to coaching.

As a coach and Director of Hockey for the SC Flyers, I’m focused on developing complete athletes. That means building skills, sharpening hockey IQ, and reinforcing accountability. I emphasize preparation, resilience, and a growth mindset so players can build confidence on the ice while developing the character and habits that carry into life beyond the game.

My background allows me to connect with players in a meaningful way. I want them to see that success in hockey can translate directly into success in life.
